The French Press
A beautiful 350ml French Press for brewing the best coffee at home. The French Press, also known as a cafetière, is an easy way to make a great coffee every day. For many, the cafetière is considered one of the best and most affordable coffee makers: it is simple to use and to clean, it does not take up a lot of space, and doesn’t cost a lot of money.
The French press allows you to control every step of the brewing process with precision. When used properly, the result can be a flavourful and rich cup of coffee.
French Press Recipe
For a great cup of coffee, we recommend the following steps to brew using a French press:
Add 15g of freshly ground coffee to the cafetière (per cup.)
Heat filtered water in a kettle to 88℃ if possible. It is important not to use fully boiling water when making coffee.
Cover the 15g of coffee with a little of the hot water, just enough to wet the coffee grounds.
Swirl the coffee with the water, making sure all the grounds are soaked, and allow to rest for at least 20 seconds. This releases any gases accumulated developed during the roasting process.
Add the rest of the water, up to 265ml (or 265g if you are using a scale) and stir.
Put the lid onto the French press without pressing down the filter. Allow it to brew for 5 minutes.
Finally, press down the filter and serve.
- You may wish to adjust the quantities of coffee and/or water if you prefer a stronger or weaker coffee.
Care and recommendations
Our French presses are made of high quality glass and are designed to be durable. Discard the coffee grounds with household waste. Wash after each use and handle with care.
Order your coffee as whole beans or ground for French Press. Where possible, we recommend ordering our coffee as whole beans, as they retain their freshness and peak flavour for longer (up to 6 months is optimum, after this the flavour may start to decline.) Ground coffee starts to lose freshness after around 2 months.
Our packaging is designed to offer exceptional storage for your superior coffee beans. Once opened, we recommend storing your coffee in an airtight, glass container, in a cool, dark place. We don’t recommend refrigerating your coffee.
