The Coffee Beans

Here at The Mexican Coffee Company HQ, we have one problem every morning: which coffee to choose? We truly love all three of our coffees and that is why we advocate for them: because we know of their superior quality, their exceptional taste, and the value they offer our customers.

Our speciality coffee beans are the result of extensive scientific knowledge, innovation, and dedication to the art of growing coffee. There is substantial study and research behind the scenes to understand the environment in which our coffee beans are grown, leading to a truly unique product: not all coffees labelled as “speciality” can say the same. Superior quality coffee beans begin with superior agriculture: for us and for our farmers, it is not just about growing coffee, but to cultivate each plant in the best possible way.

How do higher standards of quality affect coffee drinkers? Simply, drinking high quality coffee improves your overall experience. Forget about the unpleasant side effects of caffeine: the jittery feeling, racing heartbeat and the struggle to fall asleep at night. With a high quality coffee you will find higher quality caffeine, a gentle energy boost that will allow you to enjoy your day without worrying about it keeping you up all night. With a high quality coffee you will find higher quality caffeine, a gentle energy boost that will allow you to enjoy your day without worrying about it keeping you up all night. Less tossing and turning, more enjoyable flavour, and a healthier experience.

As our farmers produce three distinctive coffees, each with different profiles, you as a customer have the choice of three varieties: Canto de Quetzal (The Fruity One) with notes of succulent raisins, sweet dried cranberries and juicy blackcurrants. Antigua Delicia (The Nutty One) has an intense flavour, tending to be preferred by those who enjoy a strong coffee, with notes of hazelnut, and almond. Finally, our best seller, and most premium coffee: multi-award winning Sabroso Baile (The Chocolatey One). A firm favourite of our customers, Sabroso Baile has notes of dark chocolate and caramel.

The French Press

A beautiful 350ml French Press for brewing the best coffee at home. The French Press, also known as a cafetière, is an easy way to make a great coffee every day. For many, the cafetière is considered one of the best and most affordable coffee makers: it is simple to use and to clean, it does not take up a lot of space, and doesn’t cost a lot of money.

The French press allows you to control every step of the brewing process with precision. When used properly, the result can be a flavourful and rich cup of coffee.

French Press Recipe

For a great cup of coffee, we recommend the following steps to brew using a French press:

  • Add 15g of freshly ground coffee to the cafetière (per cup.)

  • Heat filtered water in a kettle to 88℃ if possible. It is important not to use fully boiling water when making coffee.

  • Cover the 15g of coffee with a little of the hot water, just enough to wet the coffee grounds.

  • Swirl the coffee with the water, making sure all the grounds are soaked, and allow to rest for at least 20 seconds. This releases any gases accumulated developed during the roasting process.

  • Add the rest of the water, up to 265ml (or 265g if you are using a scale) and stir.

  • Put the lid onto the French press without pressing down the filter. Allow it to brew for 5 minutes.

  • Finally, press down the filter and serve.

  • You may wish to adjust the quantities of coffee and/or water if you prefer a stronger or weaker coffee.

Care and recommendations

Our French presses are made of high quality glass and are designed to be durable. Discard the coffee grounds with household waste. Wash after each use and handle with care.

Order your coffee as whole beans or ground for French Press. Where possible, we recommend ordering our coffee as whole beans, as they retain their freshness and peak flavour for longer (up to 6 months is optimum, after this the flavour may start to decline.) Ground coffee starts to lose freshness after around 2 months.
Our packaging is designed to offer exceptional storage for your superior coffee beans. Once opened, we recommend storing your coffee in an airtight, glass container, in a cool, dark place. We don’t recommend refrigerating your coffee.
