OUR STORY

From Mexico to the world

The Company

More than a company, The Mexican Coffee Company is an integrated business project with a sense of human development at its core. We are driven by three defining values: speciality coffee, single-origin sourcing and Mexico as an origin of quality. On these bases, we are building a bridge between Mexican coffee farmers and the international community of coffee lovers, thus creating a mutually beneficial symbiosis.

We are working tirelessly to impact the coffee industry in two ways. Firstly, by improving the life of coffee-based communities in Mexico through above-fair-trade pay. Investing in these communities supports them in producing coffee of the finest quality, with the unique characteristics only Mexico can offer. Secondly, by elevating the standards of what speciality coffee and an ethical coffee supply chain should be. We achieve this by connecting Mexican coffee farmers with the world, boosting the coffee culture of excellence through which we can offer any coffee lover a supreme tasting experience.

History

Our journey goes all the way back to 2013 when the company founder, Mario Cerda, fell in love with an unforgettable coffee from Chiapas, one of the main coffee-growing areas of southern Mexico.

The aroma and taste of this coffee had a profound impact in Mario’s life, such that he wished that his experience could be shared with the world. He spent the next five years learning all that he possibly could about coffee, as well as his own Mexican culture, and in 2018 the idea of The Mexican Coffee Company had become crystal clear.

Mario began drafting the basis of this project and has since travelled to multiple fincas, persistently researching and, of course, tasting, a diverse range of coffee in order to offer the world the best possible experience of Mexican coffee – something he had found to be missing at his home in the UK.

The Mexican Coffee Company was finally established in Manchester, UK, in 2021, with the hope of connecting British coffee enthusiasts with Mexico in a meaningful way, whilst elevating their coffee-drinking experience.
